From the Italian skys is very rare to see
the Zodiacal Light. It needs very transparent nights and dark sites. The
Zodiacal Light is caused by the refection of the solar light by dust particles
scattered on the ecliptic plane. In fact in the image is clear that the
bright band cross two objects that are nearly exactly on the ecliptic:
Mars (below) and Regulus (top). At the top right corner there is also a
dim meteor.
