The Magellanic Clouds

The Magellanic Clouds are really huge patches of light in the Southern sky. At left the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) and at right the Small Magellanic Cloud (SMC). The field center is in Hydrus constellation; the red star at center is Gamma Hydri, mag. 3.3. At the left of SMC the bright patch is the huge globular cluster 47 Tucanae (NGC 104).
