VdB
152 nebular complex is a very faint object in Cepheus, at about
+70°N declination. While usually the name VdB 152 is used to refer
to the whole nebula, that catalog numer refers only to the blue
reflection nebula (here on the right). Instead the wider and reddish
nebula is the brightest part of
LBN 528 witch extends for about 30 light years at the estimated distance
of 1300 l.y.. While the color of the first one is due to the color of
the blue star inside, the reddish color is due mainly of the red
emission of the dust clouds excited by the ultraviolet radiation from
nearby stars. The red nebula below is LBN 538, associated with a faint
blue halo.
To image this field I've invested two full nights, collecting 6.5 hours
of exposure (consider that June nights are quite short).
