NGC 253 (Sculptor's Galaxy) is one of the most prominent edge-on galaxies, unfortunately the northern hemisphere observers are penalized because of the low altitude on the horizon (this image was captured with the galaxy only 18° above the horizon). At less than 2°, to the south-east, is present another interesting object, the open cluster NGC 288.
