Pinwheel Galaxy

The Pinwheel Galaxy in Triangulus is a typical example of spiral galaxy. It isn't an easy object because of it's low superficial brightness. With M31 and the Milky Way constitute the bigger part of the Local Group, the galaxy cluster in which we are.
Very interesting is the presence of many red-coloured regions, they are giant H-II regions, where star forms. The bigger of thise regions is catalogued as NGC 604, it's at 10' NE of the nucleus, and have a diameter of about 1000 a.l. and a spectrum very similar to that of M42. This central regions are better visible in the zoom below.
